"In Memoriam: Rabbi Henry Soille," Kolenu (monthly newsletter of Soille San Diego Hebrew Day School), page 1:  This coming Thursday, Jan. 12 (12 Tevet) will mark the 11th yahrzeit of Rabbi Henry Soille, z"l. Rabbi Soille's incredible life spanned his tenure as a communal Rabbi in Paris prior to World War II, his efforts to save orphans and rescue survivors in the aftermath of the Holocaust, being principal of a Talmud Torah in Cleveland, and eventually settling in San Diego just in time to give input into the Torah studies program of our Hebrew Day School during its first years.  In April 1970 Hebrew Day School honored Rabbi Soille for "years of devoted service heading the school's Va'ad HaChinuch.'  His lifelong partner, Esther Soille, shared in every achievement. Rabbi Weiser remembers Rabbi Soille's regular visits to Hebrew Day School, his serving as a judge of the Mitzvah Fair, and his emotional joy at just visiting classrooms and observing Torah study take place.  Most recently, Sean Levi, parent of three Hebrew Day students, spoke about his friendship with Rabbi Soille. His vision and love of Torah remain a fixture of our school, which today proudly bears his name.  May his memory continue to count for a blessing."
