Book Review  by Ida Nasatir

Jewish Cookery by Leah W. Leonard

Aug 18, 1950—Ida Nasatir, book review, Jewish Cookery by Leah W. Leonard, Southwestern Jewish Press, page 6:  Editor's Note: This review ran without a byline but was accompanied by Ida Nasatir's photo.

Many Jewish publishers shame-facedly admit that their perennial best-sellers are Jewish cook books, which makes Dr. Max Nordau's charge of "Bauch Judentum" far from inaccurate in regard to Jewish interest in eating Jewish foods.  The latest entry in the cookery sweepstakes is Leah Leonard's tastefully published Jewish Cookery, which is "in accordance with the Jewish Dietary Laws."  Needless to say there are special sections for the dishes and goodies peculiar to certain holidays and feast days, like Passover, Purim, etc.  According to all responsible housewives, this is a highly useful book.
