June 12, 1947—
"Mrs. Harry Epsten Holds Luncheon for New Board Members," Southwestern Jewish Press: Mrs. Harry Epsten, newly elected president of the National Council of Jewish Women of San Diego, held a luncheon for her board and committee members, Monday, June 2, at Imig Manor. after luncheon a short business meeting was held acquainting each member with plans for the coming year which promises to be outstanding. The following are the newly elected officers: Mesdames Harry Epsten, president; George Burnett, first vice-president; Harry Kauffman, second vice-president; Louis Steinman, third vice-president; Max Nelson, recording secretary; Harry Blumberg, corresponding secretary; Al Morris, treasurer; Albert Leigh, financial secretary; Jack Prager, auditor; Mrs. M. Getz, Mrs. M. Baranov, Mrs. M. Schreiber, hospitality; Mrs. Rose Smith, telephone; Mrs. Alfred Rosenfeld, Mrs. Dave Horowitz, Service to Foreign Born; Mrs. Rose Weinberger, MRs. Ben Press, Mrs. Dave Horowitz, Mrs. Max Brody, Mrs. Al Maisel, social service; Mesdames Jack Rosenblum, David Doctor, George Solomon, public relations; Mrs. Frank Levin, County Federation; Mrs. Alice Lowenstein, Civic Club; Mrs. J. Gruenberg, Mrs. D. Rosenthal, parliamentarians and By-Laws; Mrs. Jack Gross, social secretary; Mrs. Earle Brodie, Mrs. Al Newman, publicity.  A warm welcome is extended by the council to all newcomers of this community. New brides will be given a year's courtesy membership. Council is now adjourned for the summer, but will resume activities in October. 

June 26, 1947—Lou Mogy, Sports," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 5....Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gross are always on hand to root for the various players (of the Jewish Softball League). Thanks very much to the following men who were umpires in last weeks games: Morey Levenson, Sam Addleson, Lou Schissell, Its Penter, Ben Levenson and Manny Haffner...

July 17, 1947—Esther Moorsteen, "For Your Entertainment," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 8: The Thursday evening we were at the Playhouse we saw Mr. and Mrs. V. Schulman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Gross, Mr. and Mrs J.. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. M. Levenson, Mr. and Mrs. I. Mitchell and daughter Dorothy (who was wearing a handsome coat of tan!). I think we should give the Actor's Company our full support, and thereby perhaps insure another season. The one thing San Diego has needed for years has been a good theatre showing tood plays...I'm all for it...How about you..

July 24, 1947—"Mrs. Gross Host At Splash Party," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Mrs. Jack O. Gross hosted a splash party last Monday at Imig Manor. The twenty-five guests gathered at eleven o'clock at the pool where swimming was indulged in from then until one. Then luncheon was served at a beautifully appointed table set around the pool. After luncheon, the ladies spent the afternoon playing cards. The weatherman co-operated with a delightful day, and all present enjoyed this gala affair immensely.

Lou Mogy, "Sports Around Town," Southwestern Jewish Press, pages 5, 8... Morry and Gladys Levenson and Jack and Loretta Gross and Julius and Florence Brown were all up at Highland Springs, where they had a gay and glorious time....

May 1949—Pearl Lieberman, "The Way We Heard It," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: ... Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gross have just returned from a week's vacation visiting friends and relatives in Shreveport, Louisiana.  While there they attended a wedding described as bigger than Gone with the Wind.

June 1949—1)  "Leaders Spur Activities to Complete 1949 Fund Drive," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 1: Led by the Women's Division, which concluded its "luncheon" drive last week, the United Jewish Fund 1949 "Year of Opportunity" Campaign has raised over $156,000.000 in pledges. Two hundred women were guests of Msdms. Jennie Burnett, Max Gardner, H.D. Goodrich, Jack Gross, Rodin Horrow, George Neumann, Sam Perlmutter, Abe Ratner, Victor Schulman, Abe Sklar, Esther Sommers, and Harry Snyder at a "no minimum" birthday party luncheon which raised $5,500 to bring the total women's contribution of over $35,000.000 or 87 percent of the goal they have set for themselves. Recognized as one of the outstanding Women's Divisions in the United States, the ladies, under the leadership of MRs. Nathaniel Ratner, chairman, and Mrs. Gabrial (sic, Gabriel) Berg, co-chairman, have had three luncheons starting with a $250 minimum given by Mrs. Selma Getz. Following that successful luncheon, Mesdames Samuel Ratner, Gabrial (sic, Gabriel) Berg, Saul Chenkin and Lois Steinman sponsored a $100 minimum luncheon for over one-hundred women...

2) Pearl Lieberman, "The Way We Heard It," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Milton and Edna Fox, of Alexandria, Louisiana, spent a week in San Diego as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gross. Edna Fox is the sister of Mrs. Gross. Mr. Fox operates N.B.C. radio station K.S.Y.L. in Alexandria....
