November 18, 1949—"Dorothy Rabinowitz
Married in Iowa," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 4: Mr. and
Mrs. Max Rabinowitz have recently returned from des Moines, Iowa, where they
witnessed the marriage of their daughter, Dorothy, to Bernard Arenson, son of
Mrs. Perry Arenson. The couple were married in the Lounge of the Des Moines
Standard Club, followed by dinner in the Crystal Room. Mrs. Herbert Reder (Edith
Rabinowitz), sister of the bride, acted as Matron of Honor, and Shep Hurwitz,
cousin of the groom was the best man. Dorothy wore an aqua satin dress with a
pink velvet hat, and carried a bouquet of pink roses set off in the center with
an orchid. Edith wore a dress of navy marquisette, over taffeta, with a
navy velvet jacket and carried pink roses. Mrs. Rabinowitz was gowned in a plum
colored crepe dress, trimmed with gold sequins. Mrs. Arenson wore a teal
blue crepe dress. The numerous telegrams from friends in San Diego were read at
the dinner following the ceremony. The newlyweds will honeymoon in Omaha,
Nebrasa, and make their home in Des Moines, Iowa.

May 12, 1950—"Training
and Tradition Of Family Giving," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 1:
One of the highlights of "Magic Carpet Day" was seeing the Rabinowitz
family turn out en masse to help. There were Max and Mollie, Seymour and Janice
Rabin, Herbert and Edith Reder, all pitching in as workers. Mollie and Max
went out as buck privates and brought back the bacon (oops—pardon)—salami.
So did all the children. The Rabinowitz family is also among the top givers in
San Diego, and the tradition of giving is firmly established in their children.
Here is what they gave this year. Max Rabinowitz—$5,000; Mollie
Rabinowitz—$500; Seymour Rabin—$1,000; Janice Rabin $100; Herbert Reder—$400;
Edith Reder—$100, and Dorothy (Rabinowitz) Arenson from Des Moines,
Iowa—$200. The local contribution of the family was $7,300.
June 23, 1950—"Personals," Southwestern Jewish Press, page
3: It was "welcome home" at least for a few days, to Mr. and
Mrs.Bernard Arenson (Dorothy Rabinowitz), who traveled here from Des Moines,
Iowa, to visit Dorothy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Rabinowitz. The
Arensons were feted by friends and relatives at many gatherings. While they were
here they attended the wedding of their cousin, Edith Epstein.
July 21, 1950—"Mr. and Mrs. David Hurwitz Observe 25th
Anniversary," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: Mr. and Mrs.
Maynard Hurwitz entertained their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Hurwitz, honoring
them on their 25th Wedding Anniversary on June 16th. The Golden Lion
Tavern was the scene of festivities with friends and relatives present tomake
the evening a success. Joining the party from out of town were the Hurwitz's
nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Arenson of Des Moines, Iowa. The
following day Mr. and Mrs. David Hurwitz motored to Santa Barbara to see their
daughter, Barbara, receive her bachelor's degree in home economics from U.S.C.
She is now interning at the County Hospital in Los Angeles.

to visiting her daughter, Dorothea Arenson, in Des Moines, Iowa.

January 11, 1952—"The
Cradle," Southwestern Jewish Press, page 3: It is only the
beginning for Dorothy and Bernard Arenson who are proud parents of Paula Gayle,
born on december 16, at Mercy Hospital. Paula weighted 5 lbs, 11 ozs. at birth.
Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Max Rabinowitz; paternal grandmother,
Mrs. Celia Arenson of Des Moines.

United Jewish Federation on the website of the Louis Rose Society for the
Preservation of Jewish History.
