Congregation Beth Am
— Busy Weekend Schedule--Congregation Beth Am, 5050 Del Mar Heights Road in the Carmel Valley section of San Diego, announces the following events to be held in November.  All are open to the public.

Havdallah in the Park
— Congregation Beth Am  Men’s Club invites the community to be its guest on Saturday evening, November 14, at 7:00pm at Hilltop Park- Rancho Penasquitos, 9711 Oviedo Way, San Diego, CA 92129, to celebrate Havdallah, the family oriented, traditional end of Shabbat service. 
There is no charge for this event and hot chocolate will be served. Reservations are appreciated, but not required.

Blood Drive -- On Sunday, November 15, 2009 Congregation Beth Am along with the San Diego Blood Bank will sponsor a blood drive.  The blood drive will take place from 8:00am to 1:00pm in the San Diego Blood Bank Trailer located in Beth Am Parking Lot. To make an appointment, go to www.sandiegobloodbank.org.  Click on appointment and then enter the sponsor code for Beth Am which is CBSB.

Judaic Book Fair--
On Sunday, November 15, the Jewish Learning Center of Congregation Beth Am will hold a Judaic Book Fair. The event will be open from 8:30am to 1:00pm and benefits the Jewish Learning Center. There will be an extensive selection of Judaic Books for all ages and on all subjects and a boutique featuring Judaic items.  Proceeds benefit the Beth Am Jewish Learning Center.

Schmoozefest-- On Sunday, November 15, Congregation Beth Am will present the 2nd Annual Business Schmoozefest from 8:30am to 1pm.  The public is invited to find the latest and greatest services, get new ideas and discover new resources.

Yiddish Concert--Come share your love for Yiddish songs on Sunday, November 15 at 1:30 pm at Congregation Beth Am. The concert features Elisheva Edelson and the Beth Am adult and youth choirs.

Jewish Family Service--Adoptions—The Adoption Alliance of Southern California, a program of Jewish Family Service, will present a workshop on adoption from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 15, at the JFS Turk Family Center, 8804 Balboa Avenue, San Diego.Presenters will include Dr. Gary Feldman, medical director of the Stramski International Adoption Program, who will discuss “attachment, bonding and medical concerns.”
His morning presentation will be followed by a choice of afternoon workshops, respectively on domestic adoptions led by attorney Joy Kolender; creating everlasting bonds after the adoption, led by Leita Koontz; Parenting in  the Adolescent Years, led by Susan Wingate, and for adoption professionals only, supporting the adoption journey, led by Michelle Greenberg and Mireade McCallen.A final workshop will present a discussion by members of the three adoptive families on their experiences.Tickets, including lunch, are $25 for an individual or $35 for a couple.  For professionals, the fee is $35, with 3.5 continuing education units offered. Childcare will be available for $10 per child, ages 3 and up.  For more information, call (8589) 637-3060.

Jewish Family Service
Nature Walk & Sitting Meditation Group—Walking meditations (held at Rancho Penasquitos Nature Reserve): 11/15, and 12/20. Sitting meditations (held at JFS Turk Family Center): 10/18, 11/1, and 12/6 10:00-11:30am
Learn walking and sitting meditation techniques to help you in your spiritual journey. Jewish kavanah (intention) is discussed before each monthly sitting. Walking meditation will be held in a beautiful natural setting. Facilitated by Jeff Zlotnik, Executive Director of The Meditation Initiative.
