Chabad of La Costa—Upsherin—An upsherin party celebrating the third birthday of Dovid Eilfort, son of Rabbi Yeruchem and Nehama Eilfort, will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, at Chabad of La Costa, 1980 La Costa Avenue.  Traditionally this is the birthday that a child begins his formal Jewish education and receives his first haircut.  “Everyone is invited to partake in the festivities, which will include a barbecue, large bounce house and lots of food and games for everyone,” said the proud papa, Rabbi Eilfort.  RSVP to NMOME@SBCGlobal.net or by calling (760) 634-5272.

Congregation Beth Am—Labor Day Picnic—Congregation Beth Am, a Conservative synagogue in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego, invites current, new and prospective members to a Labor Day picnic.The picnic will be held on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 11:30am to 2:00pm at Ashley Falls Park (on the corner of Del Mar Heights Road and Ashley Falls Drive). Join the Rabbis, staff & dynamic leadership for this fun-filled day. There will be a Kosher BBQ, Sports with Coach Bucky, Astro Jumps, and entertainment for all ages!
